Sargachi Ramakrishna Mission High School established by Swami Akhandanandaji Maharaj, one of the direct disciples of Sri Ramakrishna, has the unique distinction of being the first school of Ramakrishna Mission all over the world. Being inspired by Swami Vivekananda's message, his brother disciple started it in 1900 in a very small scale for the all round development of some orphan boys and girls. Now it is a Bengali medium Higher Secondary school(for boys only) housed in a four storied building imparting lessons to students from class V to class XII coming from far and near with a view to attaining man making education. In the Higher Secondary level there are Science and Humanities streams. The school has a hostel named Vidyarthi Bhavan to accommodate not more than 70 students of the Secondary section only. A Language Laboratory type English skill development centre named 'English Club', well-equipped science (including geography) laboratories and a Science Cultivation Centre nicely bring the students in close contact with the practical side of knowledge. The cultural wing of the school is also rich with its various programmes for the students. Since its inception the school has been trying to spread the lofty doctrine of Sri Ramakrishna "Siva Jnane Jiva Seba" among its students.
